THE WEIGHT OF BEAUTY
Fifty-nine-year-old widow Lilith Stewart believes she has outlived her usefulness— until a new family with a lonely little boy moves in across the street of her Summerville, South Carolina home. Then, out of the blue, her estranged daughter Madelyn drops five-year-old Scarlett on Lil’s front doorstep. Add a stray puppy to the mix, and within days of her lament, Lil concedes, “I have a dog, a boy, and now a little girl…a little girl who can cuss like nobody’s business!”
BLEST BE THE TIES – A TRILOGY
In researching the Civil War, I was appalled by how little I learned in school and doubt most folks learned much either, including what led up to it and the aftermath. It has truly been a surprising journey for me. And perhaps even those who delve into its study may miss the impact it had on those who lived it— as well as the 650,000 military men and unnumbered civilian casualties who died as a result of it.
That is where STORYTELLING becomes so important. Storytelling invites us to learn by vicarious experiences. Wrapped tightly in historical accuracy, it gives us a chance to see, feel, taste, smell, and hear the effects and complexities of war much more intimately than mere facts can convey.
Read, learn, and perhaps think differently.
